The moment occurred during the second day of tournament play at Augusta National Golf Club. Spieth lined up and hit the ball off the tee. It traveled 292 yards before hitting a patron — the approved term for a person attending the Masters. The ball then bounced back onto the fairway and set Spieth up for his next shot.

The golfer did not immediately head over to the ball. Instead, he checked on the patron. He then signed his glove and handed it to the man, who appeared no worse for wear while holding a beer in his hand.

A ticket to the Masters costs $160 per day between Thursday and Sunday, provided the person makes it through the application process. According to Forbes, more than two million people apply to purchase tickets each year.

The cost of entry could include the opportunity to meet a professional golfer in an unexpected way. Spieth proved this to be the case as he hit the patron during his time on the 17th hole.

Yet, he was not the only professional golfer to have an errant shot end up in an unexpected place.

Bryson DeChambeau launched the ball from a tee on the sixth hole during Thursday's session. He watched as it drifted to the left and hit a patron. This ball also bounced back into play and set up an opportunity for the veteran golfer to make Par.

DeChambeau also made a special trip to check on the patron. He gave the person a golf ball as a form of apology.

That same day, Xander Schauffele hit a ball on the eighth hole. It flew through the air before landing in a patron's bag of merchandise. Schauffele used the bag as a marker to line up his next shot, and then he handed it back to the patron. He even let her keep the ball.
