Winning the U.S. Open wasn't the only thing making headlines last weekend.

While Wyndham Clark walked away with his second U.S. Open championship after surviving a tense finish at Shinnecock Hills, plenty of golf fans were focused on something else entirely — NBC's television coverage.
Viewers flooded social media throughout Sunday's final round, with many taking issue with what they felt was an overload of commercials, too much talking and not nearly enough golf.
"NBC coverage of the U.S. Open is horrendous," one viewer wrote. "Why do they think we care about interviews while golf is happening? ... Endless commercials. Unwatchable."

Another fan pointed out that nearly 15 minutes had passed after NBC took over the broadcast without showing a single shot.
Others echoed similar frustrations, with one viewer writing, "This NBC broadcast of the U.S. Open is unwatchable with this many commercials."
The biggest gripe seemed to be the lack of live golf. One fan claimed they had seen only a handful of shots more than a half-hour into the network's coverage after switching over from USA Network.

Another viewer wondered if NBC was showing a golf tournament or "just commercials and old highlights."
Not everyone focused on the commercial breaks. Some criticized the broadcast itself, saying the coverage bounced randomly from player to player without telling much of a story, while others reported audio issues during parts of the telecast.

Of course, social media isn't exactly known for handing out compliments, especially during major sporting events. But judging by the reaction online, plenty of golf fans felt NBC left them wanting more golf and a lot less everything else.
Clark ultimately held off Sam Burns by one stroke to capture his second U.S. Open title, but for many viewers watching from home, the biggest conversation wasn't about the winner. It was about the broadcast.
