Spiranac, a former professional golfer and Colorado native, recently shared her advice with SI Lifestyle, pointing out that cold weather does not have to be a barrier for beginners.

"The winter is the perfect time to pick up the game if you're just starting," Spiranac said. "A lot of people live in cold, snowy areas, and you think you can't get out on the course. But there are a lot of great indoor simulator options where you can learn the game without feeling like you're being judged."

That leads to her first recommendation: Indoor simulators.

Spiranac regularly posts instructional golf content for her millions of followers across Instagram and TikTok, and she is also a brand ambassador for X-Golf, which operates more than 140 simulator locations across the United States. She said the relaxed atmosphere makes simulators ideal for beginners.

"You can start by taking lessons," she said. "You can go with friends or family. It's a really easy way to introduce yourself to golf."

Her second tip is even simpler. Bring part of the game home.

Spiranac recommends investing in a putting mat, especially during the offseason. "Just putting at home is a really easy way to get into the game," she said. "It also helps you work on putting, which is the most important part of golf."

For those looking to go deeper, Spiranac also offers step-by-step putting instruction on YouTube, covering everything from grip and stance to alignment and stroke in under 20 minutes.

For beginners or experienced players alike, her message is straightforward: You do not need perfect weather or a pristine course to start getting better. Winter can work just fine.
