Pro Golfer John Daly Lost His House In Hurricane Helene

As Hurricane Helene touched down on the gulf coast last week, it destroyed thousands of homes, one of which was owned by pro golfer John Daly. With all the lives affected by the Category 4 hurricane, Daly called it, "devastating" and the worst he has ever seen.

While the storm was happening, Daly took to Instagram to post a message, which also included him showing a map of the storm that included a house emoji of where his house is.

Daly wasn't in the area when the storm swept through, as in the last few years, he mostly has been staying at his Arkansas residence near his hometown of Dardanelle. Even so, Daly said he has been greatly impacted by this, as three or four homes that belong to close friends and family were all lost in the hurricane.

When talking about him and his family, he told reporters (via PGATOUR.COM), "I'm just glad everyone is healthy, that's the main thing. You live in Florida, you have to understand that's going to happen, but not like this. I didn't think it would be this bad."

Tragically, 180 people have passed away across six different states, while hundreds are still currently misplaced and accounted for.

Daly has empathy for everyone that has suffered as a result of this natural disaster, and hopes that the response and aid recovery will help people regain their shelter.

"I hope everyone gets safe and gets their homes back," Daly said. "My heart just goes out to everybody."

Daly is set to participate in this week's PGA TOUR Champions event, Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS, which will take place in Jacksonville, Florida.
