Rory McIlroy proved an important point on Sunday evening after winning the Masters for the second consecutive year. None of the success matters if you don't have a family to share it with.

The professional golfer made this point clear during his celebration and the subsequent speech to the gathered crowd. Once he made the final putt to secure the win, he headed over to his family for emotional embraces. He then spoke about their impact on his life.
"First and foremost, my wife and daughter, Erica and Poppy," McIlroy said. "They have to put up with me at home, and trust me, sometimes that's a tough thing to do.
"But they have been my biggest supporters, and this has definitely turned into Poppy's favorite week of the year. I don't know if it's because of the Par-3 Tournament, or it's all you can eat ice cream in the players' services building."
McIlroy and Erica began dating in 2015. They exchanged vows in April 2017. According to the Irish Star, this "top-secret" ceremony took place at Ashford Castle in Co. Mayo, Ireland. The couple then welcomed Poppy into their lives in 2020.
They hit a setback in May 2024 as McIlroy filed for divorce. However, they ultimately reconciled later that year. They released a joint statement saying that they "realized that our best future was as a family together."
Poppy and Erica played a central role in McIlroy's victory speech on Sunday evening. They also supported him in another way earlier in the week. They served as his caddies during the annual Masters Par-3 Contest.
Many of the top competitors on the course had their families take part in this event. Children donned the official caddie uniform and spent time on the green while the golfers tried to secure birdies and holes-in-one.
Of course, Bryson DeChambeau went a different route by bringing in comedian Kevin Hart to be his caddie.
