Longtime Tennessee high school basketball coach Doug McBee died following a tractor rollover accident on his farm, authorities said. He was 73.

The Grainger County Sheriff's Office said McBee was involved in the accident on July 20. Additional details about the circumstances of the crash were not immediately released.
McBee spent decades as an educator and basketball coach, serving at Grainger High School after beginning his career at Rutledge High School before the schools merged in 2008.
According to his obituary, McBee was remembered as a mentor and role model who impacted generations of students and athletes.
"Beyond his family, Doug made an immeasurable impact as a teacher and coach," the obituary said. "To many, he was more than a teacher or coach. He was a mentor, role model, and a trusted friend who believed in people even when they struggled to believe in themselves."
McBee was also the father of former University of Tennessee basketball player Skylar McBee, who played for the Volunteers from 2009 to 2013 after joining the program as a walk-on before earning a scholarship.
His son, Chase McBee, remembered his father as someone devoted to his family, community and faith.
"He was one of those that would give you the shirt off his back," Chase McBee told the Knoxville News Sentinel. "He loved his community, he loved his family, but most importantly, he loved the Lord."
McBee is survived by his wife, Sue, and their three children: Chase, Skylar and Megan Schrock. Funeral services were scheduled for July 27 at Blue Springs Baptist Church in Tennessee.
