Ever since head coach Kirby Smart took control of the Georgia Bulldogs, the team has done a great job of recruiting in-state players.

Smart can add one more Peach State native to his 2022 recruiting class: Deyon Bouie will be playing his college football in Athens.

The COVID-19 pandemic meant that schools halted team activities for months, and that quick ramp-up was difficult for players. Bouie tore his ACL and MCL during a conditioning stint in January, but he was unable to rehab with the team, leading to him missing the 2020 season.

Bouie attends Bainbridge High School and has done it all for his team. He plays on offense and defense as a wide receiver and cornerback, respectively.

The Bainbridge Bearcats won a state championship in Bouie’s freshman year, and his role grew in 2019. He has caught seven touchdowns and totaled three interceptions as a defensive back.

In addition to the Dawgs, Bouie received scholarship offers from Alabama, Colorado, FIU, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Maryland, NC State, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

UGA had already recruited a four-star DB by the name of Marquis Groves-Killebrew, so the two future teammates will have time to get to know each other.

Linebackers Cedric Washington and Darris Smith are going to give Georgia football fans a lot to smile about in the coming years as well. Both Smart and defensive line coach Nick Williams were heavily involved in this recruiting process.

ATH Deyon Bouie Highlights

The quickness is what jumps out on this tape. As a freshman, Bouie was a part of a team that won a state title, so he is no stranger to success. He has future All-American potential on the defensive end, but don’t be surprised to see him on offense for select plays.

Teams like Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Vanderbilt should be on high alert in the SEC. The Georgia Bulldogs are reloading on NFL-caliber talent, and Deyon Bouie is the latest to join the pipeline. Another appearance in the College Football Playoff seems all but inevitable.

Let’s hope that Bouie can return from his knee injury swiftly and continue his budding career.
