The Cleveland Browns are apparently open to the idea of trading the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. We know this because new general manager John Dorsey, who gets to benefit off all the good work of the previous GM, said as much.
"Give me a call and see what's up," the Cleveland Browns' new general manager told the media at the scouting combine in Indianapolis.
Sounds like someone on Twitter who is about to slide in the DMs.
"Why wouldn't I (entertain offers for the first pick)?" he said.
"There's a lot of things I can do with No. 1, and not just get a quarterback as well," Dorsey said. "My door is wide open. If somebody wants to come up and talk to me about a trade, I'm willing to trade. But also I'm going to do what's best for this organization, and I will do that."
Of note, general managers tend to lie this time of year. It's all about gaining leverage and sending out mixed signals and all that jazz. You're more likely to find a more honest used car salesmen than you are to discover an honest GM during NFL Draft season.
Not that any of this matters. This is the Browns, after all. No matter what they do, it will likely end in disaster.
