Esther announced the news with a post on Instagram. She also revealed that they had named the child Michael Harris III.
"We are so thankful God chose us to be your mom and dad," she wrote in the caption of her post. "You are the most perfect addition to our life.
"Our hearts are completely full in a way we've never known before. You are so loved, prayed for and deeply cherished. You are everything we dreamed of."
Esther also posted a video on Instagram that showed a special gift from the team. The Braves had sent over a basket packed full of items for the family.
The first item in the basket was a wee Braves jersey with "Harris II" on the name plate. This way, little Michael could better support his father. The basket also included a stuffed doll of Blooper, the team mascot, some cookies, body wash, a miniature foam tomahawk, and some Braves-branded onesies among other items.
The birth meant that Harris missed some brief time while on paternity leave. He ultimately returned and helped the Braves continue with a busy spring schedule.
Harris returned to the outfield to continue playing a key role on defense. He also continued to line up near the top of the batting order during each of the games. He particularly delivered four hits in four at-bat opportunities against the Dodgers on May 8. He then added another hit and an RBI the following day.
Harris II, now in his fifth season with the Braves, has accounted for 43 hits this season. He has scored 16 runs and accounted for 23 RBIs. He has hit seven home runs.
