Brewers OF Carlos Gomez leaves game after getting drilled in the head with 97 mph fastball

There was a very frightening scene at Citi Field on Sunday afternoon.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez left the game early after getting drilled in the head with a 97 mph fastball by New York Mets rookie Noah Syndergaard. Gomez was down for a couple of minutes before being helped off of the field by a trainer.

Gomez will most likely undergo concussion tests. After the game, Gomez was smiling and appeared to be OK, according to MLB.com writer Adam McCalvy. The HBP did leave Gomez with this gnarly looking injury on his face.

To make matters worse, the Mets won the game 5-1.
