Three Milwaukee Brewers players, including manager Pat Murphy, and Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jose Siri have been handed suspensions stemming from a bench-clearing incident during Tuesday night's MLB game.
Brewers' starting pitcher Freddy Peralta received a five-game suspension for throwing at Siri intentionally during the sixth inning of the Brewers' 8-2 victory. Relief pitcher Abner Uribe was given a six-game suspension for his involvement in the altercation with Siri two innings later. Siri himself received a three-game suspension.
Additionally, Murphy will miss two games due to Peralta's actions and his conduct towards umpires. All four individuals were also fined.
Tempers flared in the eighth inning when Siri and Uribe exchanged words after Siri grounded out. This led to a bench-clearing brawl before order was restored.

The tension between Siri and the Brewers had been building since Siri's home run celebration earlier in the game. Peralta hit Siri with a pitch on a 3-0 count in the sixth inning, leading to his ejection.
Both Peralta and Uribe plan to appeal their suspensions. However, managers cannot appeal, so Murphy will begin serving his suspension immediately.
Siri, while acknowledging the bruise he sustained, maintained he had no issue with Peralta and was unsure why Uribe took issue with him. He emphasized his focus on the game and expressed readiness to return to play after receiving treatment.
"When I was in the on-deck circle and he was warming up I felt like (Peralta) kept looking over at me and staring at me, so I just had that feeling," Siri said. "Obviously, when I went to first base, I confirmed that he had a problem with me."
Siri added that celebrations by MLB pitchers and batters are just part of the game. He insisted that he wasn't trying to Peralta look bad.
"I don't think I did anything wrong. I stood there. I didn't look at it. I put my head down and just ran," he said.
