Carlos Correa scores on improbable play after Yankees botch routine flyball

It may not have occurred in the box score, but in spirit Houston's Carlos Correa scored an inside-the-park home run against the Yankees.

In the fourth inning of a 1-0 game, Correa hit what appeared to be a routine flyball to centerfield at Minute Maid Park in Houston. However, both Yankees' left fielder Chris Young and center fielder Brett Gardner misplayed the ball, allowing the ball to drop and roll to the fence. Correa took advantage of the mishap, rounding all four bases to score and tie the game at 1.

Correa was awarded a double in the box score, with Gardner being assessed an error for the botch.

This was not the only action for Correa on the night, as he also scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning after a triple by catcher Evan Gattis. Houston would end up with a 3-1 victory.
