The Los Angeles Dodgers star's wife, Chelsea Freeman, recently called 911 after waking up in the middle of the night with severe chest and back pain while her husband was on the road.

"Woke up in the middle of the night with really sharp, intense chest and back pain," Chelsea wrote on social media, via People. "Thought I was having a heart attack so I called 911."

"It was honestly really scary, especially because Freddie was on the road."

Chelsea, 35, said testing showed elevated troponin levels, leading doctors to perform a heart CT, chest X-rays and an echocardiogram.

She later visited a cardiologist who told her the episode may have been pericarditis or myocarditis. Chelsea said she was scheduled for another echocardiogram and, most importantly, was feeling "much better."

Then came another frightening moment for the Freeman family.

One day after Chelsea discussed her health scare, Freddie went tumbling down the dugout steps while chasing a foul ball during the Dodgers' 4-2 win over the Kansas City Royals.

Fortunately, the 10-time MLB All-Star avoided a serious injury.

"I didn't hit my head, so that was the key part there," Freeman said afterward. "I am sore. Kneecaps are sore. Shoulder is sore. Hand sore. Wrist sore. I mean, I fell. (But) I'm in good spirits."

Freeman explained that he thought a railing was there when he leaned toward the dugout trying to make the catch.

"Obviously there was no rail," he said.

Freddie and Chelsea have been married since 2014 and have four children. After the week they've had, an uneventful few days probably wouldn't be the worst thing.
