A 75-year-old man remained in critical condition after a driver struck him in a crosswalk near Yankee Stadium on Tuesday morning, according to New York City police.

Officers responded at approximately 10:11 a.m. to the intersection of Jerome Avenue and East 164th Street in the Bronx. Police said a white Fisker Ocean was making a left turn onto Jerome Avenue when it hit the man as he crossed the street, News 12 reported.
The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma. Emergency responders took him to Lincoln Hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition. Authorities have not publicly identified him.

Police identified the driver as 34-year-old Mohammed Dukoure. He remained at the scene after the collision and was later arrested. Dukoure faces charges of failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to use due care, according to News 12's updated report.
The charges describe alleged traffic violations; they have not been resolved in court. Police have not announced any additional charges.
The collision happened in the Highbridge area near the stadium, hours before the Yankees played the Red Sox in their postseason opener Tuesday night. Authorities have not indicated that the victim or driver was going to the game.
The man's condition is the immediate concern. News 12 reported no further medical update as of Wednesday.
