Esteban Loaiza, a former Major League Baseball pitcher and two-time All-Star, has been arrested for having 20 kilos of drugs.
Sports Illustrated relayed the report from the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
Reportedly, the arrest happened last Friday.
Following Loazia's arrest, he is being charged with possession and transportation of heroin and cocaine for sale of over 20 kilograms and transportation/sell of narcotics or a controlled substance.
While each state has varying rules when it comes to how it judicially handles drug charges, it is worth noting that this is allegedly a lot of drugs (roughly 44 pounds). He is likely looking at serious jail time if the court system can prove he's guilty.
Loaiza's bail was set at $200,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. Obviously, in turn, this makes this story a developing and fluid situation. At the time of this writing, it does not state if he posted bail or not.
Having pitched for 14 seasons for nine major league teams, the 46-year-old's last season was in 2008 when he spent time with both the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Loaiza finished second in the AL Cy Young award voting in 2003. He finished his career with a 126-114 record.
We will keep you posted as more information on this story comes to the surface.
