It’s fair to ask whether Pablo Sandoval has played his last game for the Red Sox

He's on the DL with a well-timed injury as Boston tries to figure out what to do next.

It appears Pablo Sandoval and the Boston Red Sox have reached an impasse of gargantuan proportions.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, the two sides are at a stalemate where Sandoval doesn't want to play unless he can play every day, and the Red Sox aren't willing to play him at all until he loses some weight.

The third baseman's weight has been a far more interesting subject in regards to him, as he showed up to camp overweight and looked positively massive.

It also doesn't help when he's doing things like this, where his belt snaps while taking a swing.

Sandoval was placed on the DL Wednesday with a shoulder strain, but with the rumblings coming from Fenway, it could just as easily be a way to let him disappear into the background.

After the stint is up, you have to wonder whether Sandoval will be back with the team. That's a complicated question because the round one is in the second year of a five-year, $95 million contract that is clearly a massive disaster. It's rare for a team to dump a player with that much money left on his contract, but the Red Sox may face that decision sooner that they ever dreamed.
