Chelsea announced the news on April 19 with a post on Instagram. She uploaded photos showing the newborn girl, as well as the three boys who will now be big brothers. She revealed that the girl's name is London Rosemary Joy Freeman.

The birth happened with the help of a surrogate, who carried the baby girl and delivered her on Sunday. The family was able to go home on Monday. Freeman then spent Monday at home with the newborn, watching the Dodgers demolish the Rockies 12-3.

Freeman had the opportunity to spend extra time with his family. The Dodgers put him on paternity leave on the morning of April 19 and recalled outfielder Ryan Ward from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Two days later, the Dodgers reinstated Freeman and opened up the path for his return to the baseball diamond. He rejoined his team for the start of a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants, which continued on Wednesday.

"It was awesome, I got to hold her one last time before I got on a plane this afternoon," Freeman said about the experience, per the Associated Press.

"She's perfect, everything we had hoped for. She is everything we could ask for. You will not be seeing another baby announcement from the Freemans, this is it, we are happily done with four. She is the perfect addition."

Chelsea previously revealed that they were expecting their fourth child with a post on Instagram in late February. She did not reveal the gender at the time, but she confirmed that they were turning to a surrogate.

"Worth the wait," she wrote. "Baby #4 is on the way and our hearts are already so full. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing woman helping bring our baby into our lives, and we're choosing to honor her privacy as we walk this chapter."
