The Academy Award-winning actress posted a carousel of photos Thursday on Instagram, showing her smiling, lounging on an outdoor bed above the ocean, sipping wine with her toes, and relaxing with her boyfriend, musician Van Hunt. One photo showed her holding a card that read "Mom" with hearts drawn on it.

"Phew...! cooking, cleaning and mothering," she wrote in the caption.

The timing was notable. Berry's post came just days after her ex-husband, former MLB All-Star David Justice, made headlines with comments about their short-lived marriage. Speaking on the Aug. 7 edition of the "All the Smoke" podcast with Matt Barnes, Justice said he left Berry in 1996 because "she don't cook, don't clean, don't really seem motherly."

Justice, who was married to Berry from 1993 to 1997, described himself at the time as a young Midwestern man expecting certain traditional roles in marriage. He said the two married quickly — after knowing each other for five months — and that he eventually questioned whether she was the right partner for a family. Justice added he was "footing everything" financially because Berry "didn't have any money" then.

Berry has two children — daughter Nahla, 17, with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo, 11, with ex-husband Olivier Martinez. She and Hunt have been together since 2020.

In June, during a joint appearance on "TODAY with Jenna & Friends," Hunt joked that he had already proposed. Berry, who has been married three times, said marriage is not necessary for them to validate their relationship but hinted it could happen.

"If I could go back in time," Berry said, "out of the people I've been married to, this is the person I should have married."
