He traded his bat for a bazooka and launched the second longest HR of the year

He used that oh-so-sweet spot.

It wasn't enough for Franklin Gutierrez to get a three-run homer against the Cincinnati Reds Saturday. No, Gutierrez had to blast one out of Great American Ballpark—a 473-foot comet into the stands for the second longest home run of the MLB season.

"I put a good swing on it. I got into a good hitter's count. He threw me a fastball, and I hit it really well," said Gutierrez. "Only two times in my career have I hit a ball like that where you don't feel anything in the bat. Today I think was the longest homer I ever hit in my career. It's amazing."

Amazing is right, as it's not too far off the season leader of 475 feet, set by Miami Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton on May 6.

It was just his second home run of the season and should rank as his favorite as it gave the Mariners a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning, which would hold for the rest of the contest.
