Los Angeles Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker was involved a horrific accident Sunday against the Mariners when he took a line drive to the head.

In the second inning, third baseman Kyle Seager sent a pitch right back at Shoemaker, striking him in the side of the head and sending him to the ground, huddled over in pain.

The ball was traveling about 105 MPH, according to MLB's StatCast.

Shoemaker was immediately looked at by trainers as players from both teams took a knee to await the initial news. He was then transported to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a skull fracture and hematoma.

We're all hoping Shoemaker makes a speedy recovery and that no one else has to go through the same pain.
