Whitaker was working the broadcast when she was struck in the forearm by a hard line drive off the bat of Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman.
Fortunately, she escaped with what appeared to be only a painful bruise.
Whitaker later shared photos on social media showing her arm wrapped in bandages while receiving treatment from Baltimore's medical staff. She also managed to find some humor in the scary moment.
"In case anyone was wondering — Adley Rutschman's exit velo is still elite. My forearm is proof," she wrote. "Found out what it feels like to be the injury update instead of reporting it. 10-day IL, forearm discomfort."

She added that she was doing well and thanked the Orioles' medical staff for treating her during the game.
The frightening moment came during Baltimore's 7-4 victory over Detroit. Rutschman finished 2-for-5 with a double, while his line drive also produced one of the night's most unexpected highlights.
Whitaker caught a break the following day, as Saturday's Orioles-Tigers game was postponed because of rain, giving her a little extra time to recover.
Based on her social media posts afterward, she appeared to be in good spirits and avoided any serious injury.
Still, it's a reminder that even reporters aren't always safe from baseball's hardest-hit balls.
