After trailing 5-0 vs. the Yankees in Game 5, the Dodgers scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning, and Los Angeles held on to win the game, claiming victory in their 12th ever World Series matchup vs. New York.

To note, this was the largest comeback to clinch a World Series in MLB history.
In view of what went wrong for the Yankees, they entered the fifth inning with a 5-0 lead, however, it all went downhill, starting with superstar Aaron Judge dropping a routine fly ball.

Then after a throwing error by shortstop Anthony Volpe, the Dodgers went on to score five runs (0 earned).
Teoscar Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 and had 2 RBI's in the 5th, was asked in the postgame interview what they did right in the comeback.
"We just took advantage of every mistake they [the Yankees] made in that inning," Hernandez responded. "We put the ball in play. A lot of people say, when you put the ball in play a lot of things happen, it happened to us in that inning and we scored five runs."
Gerrit Cole had a 5-0 lead. He ended the 5th inning allowing the #Dodgers to TIE it.

The Dodgers were down by one in the eighth inning, and ended up scoring two runs, on a couple sacrifice flies, to take the lead.

Mookie Betts is the one who had the game-winning RBI, which led to him earning his third ever World Series title.
That is to say, with a 7-6 win, the Boys in Blue will bring home another championship to Los Angeles, four seasons after their 2020 title.

This is the eighth title in franchise history, and they have narrowed the gap with their championship rivals, as the Yankees are now 8-4 vs. the team that formerly hailed from Brooklyn.
Notably, Shohei Ohtani claimed a World Series title in his first ever postseason appearance, but it was the supporting cast that came up big in the end.
Unsung heroes such as pitcher Walker Buehler (5.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in the regular season), who barely made the postseason roster, were the difference-makers for the Dodgers.
Buehler won Game 3 for the team, and then came back on two days of rest to close out the clinching win in the last game of the 2024 MLB season.
Walker Buehler had the worst regular season of his career.
He was starting for the Dodgers in October out of necessity.

The World Series MVP was given to Freddie Freeman, who tied the World Series record with 12 RBI's, and he gave the credit to his teammates.
"12 RBI's, that means that's a lot of my teammates on base," Freeman, who hit a walk-off grand slam in Game 1, noted. "Just happy that I was able to get hot at the right time."

The 2020 World Series Dodgers team was not able to commemorate their season with a parade because of Covid. That is to say, now LA will be able to celebrate their MLB championship season to the max for the first time in 36 years (1988 World Series), and needless to say the party has already started.
