Mariners Fan Walks Away With Two Foul Balls, And On Back-To-Back Pitches

One attending the Seattle Mariners game against the Kansas City Royals may want to start playing the lottery. After all, the fan snared two foul balls, in two straight pitches.

Keep in mind that people go to MLB games for decades and never have a foul hit in their direction. This fan, however, pulled off the equivalent of hitting for the cycle or throwing a no-hitter.

It all happened thanks to a Mariners batter, too. That would be none other than Josh Rojas, who fouled consecutive pitches off Kansas City's Brady Singer down the left-field line.

During the bottom of the first inning, Seattle's Josh Rojas fouled consecutive pitches from Kansas City pitcher Brady Singer down the left-field line. Both sliced into the stands — and our lucky fan made the grab each time.

The Associated Press set the scene:

"The fan - wearing a Mariners jersey and a Seattle Kraken hat - made a basket catch to grab the first foul ball on the fly. The second ball appeared to land at his feet before he picked it up off the ground," the AP wrote.

"Mariners play-by-play broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith shouted, 'He got both!' on the television broadcast as the fan held both baseballs in the air."

On the downside for the Mariners, Rojas eventually flew out to center in the same at-bat. So it's safe to say everyone was watching what he offered.

The Mariners also suffered a 4-2 loss to the Royals — though Seattle entered Wednesday at 23-20 and in first place in the AL West. And now, should they start to slip a little, they certainly know of one guy who could bring both good fortune and perhaps some underrated skills.
