The sports world has suffered another gargantuan loss on September 30. According to TMZ baseball legend Pete Rose has passed away. He was 83 years old.
"MLB legend Pete Rose has died at the age of 83, TMZ Sports has learned. Rose, Major League Baseball's hit king, passed away earlier today at his home in Las Vegas," TMZ writes.
"Pete's agent, Ryan Fiterman of Fiterman Sports, confirmed the news, saying, "The family is asking for privacy at this time." Pete was one of the greatest baseball players to ever grace a diamond, earning 17 All-Star Game nods, winning three World Series and the 1973 N.L. MVP."

Rose is one of the most noted and controversial figures in sports history. Following the news about his passing, fans on social media weighed in with mixed reactions.
"Loved watching Charlie Hustle play. Always thought they should have put him in the Hall of Fame, especially with the way things are now. RIP into the hit king / the great Pete Rose," one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Baseball Legend Says Gambling Ban Cost Him Millions
As a 17-time MLB all-star, Rose is widely regarded as one of the best to ever play in the majors. But Rose was never elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. That is because the MLB banned him after it was revealed that he was betting on games while he was an active player.
Before his passing, Rose said that the scandal that got him banned cost him about $100 million.
"You have to understand one thing, ladies and gentlemen, gambling cost me a hundred million [dollars]. That's what I'd have made in baseball if I hadn't got suspended," he said.
"I hurt myself and my family and I was stupid. But I've overcome it. I've overcome it."
