Following the tragic event of Donald Trump getting shot in the ear during a failed assassination attempt last week, Major League Baseball players have seemingly responded by imitating the 45th President during their post-hit celebrations.

During a couple notable incidents over the weekend, players were seen reenacting what Trump did moments after he was nearly killed. After hitting a double vs. the New York Yankees Sunday, Taylor Walls, shortstop for the Tampa Bay Rays, was seen doing a fist bump, while mouthing the words, "fight, fight, fight."

Then evidently the St. Louis Cardinals team has a synchronized celebration involving the whole dugout holding their right ear, while simultaneously raising their fist after outfielder Alec Burleson hit a solo home run.

Despite what it looks like, Cardinals player Matt Carpenter says their gestures aren't political but rather "an inside joke."
A Cardinals' celebration came into question Sunday after an online outlet compared it to images that emerged shortly after an assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump.
Matt Carpenter insists the gesture wasn't political.

"Definitely not a political statement. I think that's a little off-base here," Carpenter said.

Apparently they are claiming that the celebration is supposed to mimic a "DJ cupping their ear/headphones," which they expect everyone to believe is certainly just a big coincidence, right?
The team says its celebration is inspired by Burleson's nickname as a "college rapper"— Biscuit.
With this in mind, Burleson already has 18 home runs, so the timing of this certain one coming off of the events that took place with former President Trump raises some eyebrows.
