New York Mets Complete Subway Series Sweep Over Yankees, Manager Aaron Boone: 'We're Playing Like S***'

The New York Mets defeated the Yankees 12-3 on Wednesday, as they now are undefeated vs. their cross-town rivals this season (2-0 at Citi Field; 2-0 @ Yankee Stadium). That is to say, things are starting to turn into a downward spiral for the Bronx Bombers, as they have only won 10 of their last 32 games, after starting the year 50-22. With this in mind, manager Aaron Boone had to address the losing stretch during the post-game press conference.

"We're (ticked) off. We've got to play better,'' said Boone, after the blowout loss to the Mets. "This has gone on long enough.''

Considering they have a lineup full of superstars, the Yankees manager harped on the team underperforming, while also including some bad words.

"We gotta play better, okay? We have it right in front of us. We're a really good team that has played sh**y of late. We need to be better... Whether you call a [losing] stretch, a slump, I don't give a sh**. It's 'We need to play better the rest of the way.'"

Even with the recent struggles, the Yankees (60-44) are only 2.0 games out of first place in the AL East division.

"We're getting our teeth kicked in and we've got to change it,'' Boone continued. "We're a really good team that's played (lousy) of late. We need to be better... We're (ticked) off in there, we've got a lot of pride in there, we've got a lot of expectations. I also know we're competing our (tails) off... No one's going to pull us out of this but us.''

The Yankees will go against their other rivals, the Boston Red Sox (54-47), Friday, July 27 at 7:10 pm ET.
