Alec Bohm has filed a lawsuit against his parents, accusing them of misusing millions of dollars tied to his career earnings, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.
According to the filing, Bohm claims his parents, Daniel and Lisa, created multiple LLCs starting in 2019 to manage his finances after he entered the league as the No. 3 overall pick in 2018. He says the setup was supposed to protect and grow his money.
Instead, he alleges funds were transferred and used for their own benefit.
The lawsuit claims money from his accounts, along with funds connected to the Alec Bohm Foundation, were used for personal expenses. Bohm is seeking at least $3 million in damages.
His parents deny everything. Through their attorney, they said they have always acted in their son's best interests and called the claims "entirely without merit."
Bohm, a former All-Star making $10.2 million this season, also alleges he was told he could not hold certain real estate assets in his own name, without a clear explanation why. He now believes liabilities may have been overstated as part of a broader effort to move money.
He is asking the court to return any misused funds and give him full control of the LLCs.
It's a family dispute that has now moved into a courtroom, and it's safe to say it's not a small one.
