San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader's injury setback has taken an unexpected turn.

The Giants announced they have suspended payment of Bader's salary while investigating the circumstances surrounding a late-night scooter accident that further injured his already ailing left foot.
President of baseball operations Buster Posey said the crash delayed Bader's recovery from plantar fasciitis, an injury that had already sidelined him since late May.
"Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed Harrison's prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis and, unfortunately, his return to the field," Posey said in a statement.
According to multiple reports, the accident occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in San Francisco when the scooter Bader was riding collided with the rear of a fire engine. A witness told SFist the fire truck's wheel then rolled over Bader's left foot.
The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed it responded to a collision involving a scooter rider who was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, though officials did not identify the individual.
The incident reportedly complicated an already scheduled evaluation with a foot specialist as Bader continues recovering from plantar fasciitis.
Manager Tony Vitello declined to discuss specifics of the accident but acknowledged Bader's foot injury remains the team's primary concern.
The 32-year-old signed a two-year, $20.5 million contract with San Francisco before the season but has appeared in only 30 MLB games, batting .170 with five home runs.
Even before the scooter accident, the Giants had indicated Bader faced long odds of returning before the end of the season. The latest setback only adds more uncertainty to his timeline.
