St. Louis Cardinals tickets are laughably low right now. It's reached the point where many people assume the website they're on is glitching.

Screenshots flooded social media on Wednesday as baseball fans took notice of the insanely low prices. This included a Section 340 seat for 0$. That can't be true, can it? Others were listed for $1. It's true, though. The game against the San Diego Padres featured so many tickets essentially for free that you're thumb could get tired from scrolling.
A look across baseball suggests that there's no way this could be. St. Louis is sixth in the league in attendance, averaging 36,520 fans per game at Busch Stadium. That number is down slightly from the year before (40,013) but not enough to warrant tickets to be given away.
Sheesh. The Cardinals must've seen everybody talking about their drastic drop in attendance.
They are literally giving away tickets now.
Somebody should tell them it's not the cost of tickets. It's the Front Office. pic.twitter.com/Ijkt5IylbG

So what gives?
Their attendance on Tuesday night was just 27,224, but more concerning is that St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports it was "slightly less than 13,000" fans who went through the turnstiles. If that's true, then perhaps that 36,520 tickets sold per game is closer to 20,000 than 30,000. By the way, that 27,224 is the LOWEST EVER in the history of the ballpark.
I checked to see if there was any other reason tickets would be going for so low. This included weather. After all, if it was going to be 110 degrees, who would actually want to attend a baseball ticketgame outdoors? Nothing extreme caught my eye as it was 94 degrees with a low of 75. The heat wave certainly isn't helping but it's hot everywhere throughout the summer, that doesn't explain $1 tickets.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Ticket prices for tonight's St. Louis Cardinals game vs the San Diego on sale for $0. pic.twitter.com/RfMhBEBiYB

This is simply a fan base with high expectations and is on the verge of seeing their team miss the playoffs without ever really having a decent shot of even making it for the second consecutive season.
A quick look ahead to the next time the Cardinals play in front of the home crowd shows that not much has change. Instead of tickets going for $1, next Friday's game with Seattle sees tickets going for $6.
Things aren't going great in St. Louis!
