A no-hitter/shutout combination seemed inevitable for the Tampa Bay Rays against the New York Yankees Sunday.
That is until the seventh inning, when Starlin Castro's two-run homer destroyed both opportunities in one swing.
It was the first time in over a century that the Yankees have won a game off just one recorded hit, according to ESPN.
"It felt really good, especially because we won the game," Castro said. "Gardy had a nice walk, and I was just looking for pitches I could drive."
It's one way to lose a no-hitter or a shut out, but to lose both and the game on just one swing? What could be more painful?
