When the New York Mets signed former Florida Gators star quarterback Tim Tebow, the team was widely mocked as wasting money on an expensive publicity stunt. There was no way, the narrative went, a failed NFL player approaching his 30th birthday should take up a roster spot that could go to a real prospect.

How times have quickly changed.
Now comes words that the Amazin' Mets are considering doing an Amazin' thing — move Tebow to a tougher minor league.
The New York Post reports that any possible promotion probably won't happen until after the mid-season All-Star break.
While Tebow's full-season line isn't that impressive, he's been on a tear, with a .859 OPS (on base plus slugging percentage) over the last 16 games. For the season, his slash line is .250/.330./.370.
What could a next move be? Tebow now plays for Columbia in the Sally League, which is a low-A team. He could go to St. Lucie, the high-A team, or, if the Mets want to be really bold, see what he has at AA Binghamton. Such a jump seems unlikely, though no more unlikely than Tebow, once again, proving he doubters wrong.
