3.) 1962 New York Mets

Record: 40-120 (.250 winning percentage)

During the expansion team New York Mets' inaugural season, they had nothing but struggles. To note, they set a record with 210 errors, while their pitching staff put up a 5.04 ERA. Nevertheless, it didn't take long for the franchise to turn things around, as the Mets would go on to win the World Series during the 1969 season.

2.) 2024 Chicago White Sox

Record: 41-121 (.253 winning percentage)

In the most recent 2024 season, the Chicago White Sox had 121 losses, which set a modern-era MLB record. At one point in time, the team went on a 21-game losing streak (tied AL record) that lasted nearly a month (July 10-August 5th). Furthermore, the team also endured losing streaks of 12 and 14 games. Overall, the White Sox had a run differential of -320 on the season.

1.) 1899 Cleveland Spiders

Record: 20-134 (.130 winning percentage)

There may never be a worse MLB team than the Cleveland Spiders, who won only 13% of their games during the 1899 season. To point out how bad they were, attendance was so low at games that the team played 112 (out of 154 games) at the other teams' ballparks. In view of their abysmal performance on the field that year, it can be attributed to the syndicate ownership (Frank and Stanley Robinson) trading all their best players (Hall of Famers such as Cy Young, Jesse Burkett, and Bobby Wallace) to the St. Louis Perfectos (another team they owned).
