Juan Soto helped lead the New York Yankees to the World Series this season, however, it appears his time in the Bronx was a one-and-done as the MLB superstar is taking his talents across town to Queens.

The 26-year-old will now be playing his home games at Citi Field after signing a 15-year/$765 million contract, which surpasses Shohei Ohtani's $700 million deal as the biggest contract in U.S. sports history.

Undoubtedly, fans of the Bronx Bombers may be devastated by this decision, as reports have come out that Steve Cohen and the Mets only offered $4.5 more per year than the Yankees (without taking into account incentives and signing bonus).
Considering the success the Yankees had with Soto in his first season in New York, many were confident that they could retain the four-time All-Star on a long-term deal.

Un-shockingly, the Yankees fans have already started to turn on Soto as there are videos of his pinstripe jerseys being burned.

With this in mind, in view of the upcoming Subway Series matchups between both New York teams, Soto will be booed by 40,000+ fans instead of cheered.
"It's not easy to play in front of 40,000 fans against you. It's not only the team, you've got to go against those 45, 50,000 people that are against you."

To point out, this decision is coming off of Soto trolling the media a couple weeks back, when he did a commercial that seemed to be a LeBron-esque decision re-enactment, which he posted on Instagram.

As some might remember, Soto denied a max contract (15 year/$440 million) with the Washington Nationals back in 2022. And certainly this decision has paid off for the five-time Silver Slugger.

Now Soto will be joining Francisco Lindor and a potent Mets lineup, that lost to the LA Dodgers in the NLCS last season.

With this in mind, the money may have not been the only factor in Soto's decision to join the cross-town rivals.
MLB reporter Jeff Passan appeared on SportsCenter, where he made the following statement:
"In the end, I think Juan Soto looked at the Mets future and he looked at the Yankees future, and decided that the Mets had a better future than the Yankees."

Throughout his career, Soto has proven himself to be a top hitter in the MLB, and now with seven seasons under his belt, playing for the Nationals, Padres, and Yankees, he will be the highest-paid baseball player ever, now as a member of the Mets.

This signing will go down in history, as Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen said, "It is the biggest and most important transaction the Mets have ever made."

Soto just became $765,000,000 richer, and half of New York is ecstatic, while the other half will definitely hold a grudge.
