During a tense UFC Fight Night weigh-in in Qatar, Tsarukyan leaned in and cracked Hooker with a clear headbutt as the two squared up.
Tsarukyan, who enters the bout at 22-3, stepped forward as the fighters met face-to-face, then jolted in and made contact with Hooker's forehead. Officials jumped between them immediately, but both kept barking at each other while being held back.
The boiling tension is not new. Hooker, 24-12, unloaded on Tsarukyan earlier this week in an interview with MMA Fighting, calling their matchup "the working man vs. Richie Rich."
He took aim at Tsarukyan's upbringing and family resources, saying his opponent grew up with access to the best gyms, coaches and travel.
"I feel like I am a fighter for the working man," Hooker told the outlet. "I represent hard work, sticking at it and accomplishing what you want through that.
"I feel like he has had everything handed to him. The best coaches, the best training, fly around here and there, and he has had the easy road."
Hooker did not dial anything back, even referring to Tsarukyan as "a mouthy little rich p***y."
Now the talking and the shoving are done. Tsarukyan and Hooker settle it the only way fighters can, and they get paid for the privilege.
