Conor McGregor, who has long had issues with the UFC, will reportedly be stripped of his lightweight strap by the promotion.

A polarizing figure, McGregor is likely most famous for his battle of fisticuffs against Floyd Mayweather in a sport he doesn't actually belong in. According to a new report, he might now be nearly as famous for being the first UFC competitor to ever be stripped of two championships.
Having already been stripped of his featherweight belt for not defending, BJPenn.com is reporting McGregor will be stripped of his UFC lightweight title he won in November of 2016 at UFC 205. In turn, Khabib Nurmagomedov is expected to fight Tony Ferguson for the belt this April at UFC 223.
Tony Ferguson previously won the interim title ahead of the UFC's move to strip Conor of the belt.
In total, McGregor has won four different UFC titles. That's pretty awesome by any standard. That being said, as he continues to defy UFC main-man Dana White at every turn, his reliability to defend those championships is not exactly ideal.
It will be interesting to see how the UFC continues to operate in a world without McGregor. Failing to have built stars to his stature, there's obviously a dip in the casual fan engagement. Those who are diehard fanatics, though, will be there no matter what.
