A brutal case that played out over a FaceTime call just landed a prison sentence. Matvei Rumiantsev, a former MMA fighter, was sentenced to four years behind bars after being convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend during a January 2025 incident that was partially witnessed by Barron Trump.

The details are as disturbing as they are unusual.
According to court testimony (per The New York Post), the attack happened inside Rumiantsev's London apartment after he saw an incoming call from Barron on the victim's phone. What followed, prosecutors said, was a jealous outburst that turned violent.
The victim told the court Rumiantsev grabbed her, choked her, and kicked her while yelling insults. At one point, he answered the FaceTime call and briefly showed her crying on the floor.
That's when things shifted. Barron, calling from the U.S., quickly contacted police after seeing what was happening.
"It's really an emergency," he told dispatchers, according to reports. "She's getting beat up."
A judge later noted Barron acted "properly and responsibly" in helping alert authorities from overseas.
Rumiantsev, 23, was found guilty earlier this year. He received two years for the assault and another two for attempting to interfere with the case after sending a letter urging the victim to retract her claims.
The judge didn't hold back.
"You are a man given to jealousy," he said, adding that Rumiantsev showed "no insight or empathy" and continued blaming the victim.
He could also face deportation.
Rumiantsev denied the most serious charges, including rape and strangulation, but the court made clear the violence alone was enough to warrant significant time.
