During Sunday morning's FA Community Shield matchup between Arsenal and Chelsea, centre back Per Mertesacker attempted to defend a cross and took a nasty elbow across the top of his nose.
That resulted in the the 6'6" German laying in a heap as a bloody mess.
At the half, the match is scoreless.
The EPL season gets rolling again on Friday, with Arsenal matching up against the 2015-16 champions, Leicester City.
