In a developing story out of Kansas City, Kansas, a police officer has reportedly been shot and is in critical condition.

According to the Kansas City Star, multiple suspects ran away from the scene.

Kansas City Police Chief Terry Zeigler announced news of the situation on Twitter.

Multiple suspects ran from the scene, according to police radio traffic.
Dozens of police have been called to the area and they are reportedly armed with rifles. Officers were seen kneeling down on the street taking cover with guns drawn.

A suspect is barricaded in a home where a woman came out with her hands up. She is in custody.
Cops were yelling at another person considered a suspect who is in a house.
Officer T.J. Tomasic told the Kansas City Star that police were responding to disturbance call after a person reported being shot at by several people in a unindentified vehicle.
Police have entered the house of one suspect.
