ESPN's major competition will reportedly make drastic cuts of their own

This is surprising.

Lucas Shaw's entire report states that the company will eliminate 20 writing and editing positions in Los Angeles and those will be replaced by jobs in video editing, promotion and video production. 21st Century Fox Inc. has decided to go the way of video as some other companies have and is hoping to get more content on the web to become viral or be used in promotional materials they can use to raise awareness of other programs.

This is the same FOX Sports that has given jobs to former ESPN personalities like Skip Bayless, Ray Lewis and Chris Broussard to name a few. They are clearly in favor of creating shows and content that have people giving opinions more so than trying to do fact-based shows that air nightly as they cancelled a "SportsCenter"-like show back in February.
