Tied 0-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Utah's pitcher threw just his third pitch with a 1-1 count when Montana's lead-off hitter hit what he, and everyone else, initially thought was a bloop shot into center field.
Instead, Mathews leaped to his right to snag the ball out of thin air to secure the first out of the game.
He and his teammates were ecstatic after this, and in the clip above, you can see him mouthing "Let's go!" and even doing his best impression of former NFL quarterback Cam Newton's Superman impression.
Utah went on to defeat Montana 2-1 after six innings. The game came to a close thanks to a Brogan Coop strikeout.
Representing the Mountain region, Utah moves on.
