One of the most insane game-ending plays sadly got wiped out by penalty Twitter screen shot

Lateral plays at the end of football games are often a desperate mess. This one during a Texas high school playoff game between St. Pius X and Dallas Bishop Dunne Saturday night was certainly that, but it was also much, much more.

Down 21-18 with three seconds left from their own 30-yard line, Pius embarked on a both sloppy and dazzling, 12-lateral play that seemed to involve every single member of the offensive unit.

It all started with a short 4-yard pass from quarterback Greg  Gunnell that a couple laterals later took the Panthers all the way into their own end zone.

Finally, about nine laterals later, Pius player J.J. Jefferson found some daylight and took the ball to the Bishop Dunne 45-yard line before the ball ended up in the hands of fleet-footed Bryson Jackson, who outraced everyone over the final 30-yards for the apparent game winner.

Unfortunately, the miracle play was erased by a block in the back, leaving the Panthers within a hair of advancing to the State playoffs.
