Stephen A. Smith is no stranger to controversy with what he says, but usually those are predetermined conversation points meant to stir up the conversation around a sports topic.

The latest controversy around Smith and his mouth comes from a comment he made during SportsCenter's Top 10 plays of the day on Friday. Smith, after a goal off a free kick in the Women's World Cup, joked that the players "might not have wanted to mess their hair up," after Tim Legler said "Those young ladies didn't want to catch one in the grill."
Smith's comment quickly made the rounds on social media and caused many to claim that his comments were sexist and in poor taste. Smith, to his credit, quickly apologized on Twitter for what he said.
