On Thursday, the Associated Press reported that Prince's cause of death was indeed what many people had presumed: an opioid overdose.
"Law enforcement official tells AP that tests show Prince died of an opioid overdose," the AP reported.
In the weeks since his untimely death, various news outlets have reported that Prince had a crippling addiction to painkillers and sought treatment.
The man who called police once employees of Prince's estate found his body was the son of an addiction specialist who was delivering detox medication.
