This reporter figured out the coolest way to honor the death of one of his heroes

“Microphone Check, 1,2, what is this? The five-foot assassin with the roughneck business!

After learning of the sudden death of hip-hop visionary Phife Dawg on Wednesday morning, a traffic reporter for WSB-TV in Atlanta decided to get a little creative with his descriptions of the day's road situation.

Phife Dawg, real name Malik Taylor, was a founding member of the tremendously influential hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest. He passed away after a decades long health struggle which included having a kidney transplant due to complications from diabetes.

On WSB-TV, traffic reporter Mark Arum dropped sly references to Phife Dawg's lyrics into his report by equating the day's traffic to some of the scenarios in A Tribe Called Quest rhymes.

Before going on the air, Arum took to his personal Facebook page to comment on the tragic passing of one of his rap heroes.

"I am stunned. And shook. Most times I have to do a mic check I quote my man Phife: 'Microphone Check, 1,2, what is this? The five-foot assassin with the roughneck business!' ?#?RIPPhifeDawg?."
