A 16-foot-wide sinkhole in Peru nearly caused a family of three their lives but, luckily, passersby helped them from a watery fate.
"Some people helped us, but we were scared, because water began to filter into the vehicle," Edgar Orlando Bartolo Silva told Terra Peru. Silva was trapped inside the car with his partner and 2-year-old daughter before people came to their rescue.
According to Radio Capital, the trio suffered only minor bruising and bumps from the accident that left their vehicle almost completely vertical in the 9-foot-deep hole.
The sinkhole is believed to have been caused by a busted sewer pipe, according to Andina, a local news agency in Peru.
