The highly debated issue of allowing transgender athletes to compete in women's sports has now reached the federal level, as U.S. President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order that basically says the government recognizes only two sexes, male and female.

That is, regarding this topic, Trump recently got into it with the Governor of Maine, Janet Mills.

"The NCAA has complied immediately by the way that's good but I understand Maine...," the President stated while referring to his recent executive order of banning transgender athletes from competing in women's sports.

President Trump: "Is the governor of Maine here?"

Governor Mills: "Yes I'm here."

Trump: "Are you not gonna comply?"

Mills: "I'm going to comply with state and federal law."

Trump: "We are the federal law... You better do it because you're not gonna get any federal funding at all if you don't," the President continued. "Your population doesn't want men playing in women's sports, so you better, you better comply because otherwise you're not getting any federal funding."

Mills: "See you in court."

Trump: "Good I'll see you in court. I look forward to that, that should be a real easy one. Enjoy your life after governor because I don't think you'll be in elected politics."

In view of this, Trump even went on to reference the women's Olympics boxing controversy, where Italian Angela Carini, abandoned her fight against Algeria's Imane Khelif after just 46 seconds.

That is, Khelif ended up winning the gold medal (66 kg weight class), and afterwards received backlash, as the public perception was that the 25-year-old was a biological male.

Yet there are conflicting reports regarding this, as she may have what is referred to as Swyer Syndrome, which means Khelif has XY chromosomes (found in males) with female reproductive parts.

All in all, after testing for "elevated levels of testosterone," Khelif's eligibility was called into question, as many felt it was a safety concern for other female fighters.
