ESPN made the official announcement that Mike & Mike will be replaced by Golic & Wingo beginning on Monday, November 27 and the new program will occupy the familiar 6:00 am to 10:00 am ET time slot on ESPN Radio. It should be noted that the initial simulcast will take place on ESPN2 but, in "early January," the new show will be transitioning to ESPNU, presumably to make room for Greenberg's new venture.
Long-time ESPN host Trey Wingo will be joining the broadcast alongside Mike Golic and for one hour (6:00 am to 7:00 am ET), the duo will become a trio with the addition of Mike Golic Jr., who currently hosts the 4:00 am to 6:00 am ET show called First & Last. Because of that unusual setup and the mere fact that Mike & Mike ran for more than 17 years, it will be very interesting to see how the new collection of talent works immediately. Still, there is safety in the presence of Golic and Wingo is a well-respected voice, especially when discussing the network's biggest property in the NFL.
Greenberg will move to a morning show, debuting January 1, 2018.
It's certainly the end of an era and a changing of the ways at ESPN.
