This marks Carmelo Anthony's first run at broadcasting live games, but he's remained active in the media scene since retiring from the NBA nearly two years ago. His web series "7PM in Brooklyn," hosted alongside comedian The Kid Mero, has received positive reviews and he is also the founder of the production company "Creative 7," referencing the digit he wore with the Knicks.
Per Marchand, Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle will serve as its top play-by-play men, but so far, Anthony is the only studio team member hired. Early names that were thrown out included TNT's Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller.
The NBA's new 11-year, $76 billion broadcast deal still features longtime partner ABC/ESPN, but will add NBC and Amazon Prime Video starting next season.
NBC's piece of the deal will include the NBA All-Star Game, Monday night games on Peacock, Tuesday games and Sunday night games. The Sunday night package will begin after NBC's Sunday Night Football slate ends in early January.
NBC's package will include high-profile regular seasons games as well as a postseason package that will include a conference finals set in even-numbered years. The network will also take over almost all of the NBA's All-Star Weekend coverage, which sets the stage for an eventful February, as NBC Sports will add the exhibition to its workload alongside Super Bowl LX and the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
