The Boston Celtics claimed their 18th banner by knocking off the Dallas Mavericks in five games of the NBA Finals on Monday, but that doesn't mean they got any rest.
At least, head of basketball operations Brad Stevens and the front office.
Per Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the Celtics' front office hosted a workout involving six draft prospects at the Auerbach Center on Tuesday.
"Almost the entire front office is there, and some of them have not slept at all," Himmelsbach wrote.
This comes less than 24 hours after the Celtics hammered the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the Finals. That gave them, yes, their 18th title, overtaking the cross-country rival Los Angeles Lakers for most in league history.
As of now, the Celtics hold the No. 30 overall pick, or the final one of the first round, as well as the No. 54 pick.
Who, exactly, will be working out for them on Tuesday has yet to be revealed. Sources said the Celtics already worked out Akron forward Enrique Freeman, projected to be selected late in the first round. Freeman made 69 of 100 3-pointers during his workout, sources said.
This year's draft will take place over two days, another NBA first. The first round is scheduled for June 26, with the second round to take place on June 27, starting at 4 p.m. EST.
Along with everything else, Boston is set to make star wing Jayson Tatum the richest player in NBA history with a supermax contract extension offer.
More specifically, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Celtics intend to offer Tatum a five-year, $315 million contract — a deal that will top the one given to fellow Celtics wing and Finals MVP Jaylen Brown.
This was the first title for Tatum and Brown, though they have now been to the Finals in two of the past three years (losing to the Warriors in six games in 2022).
