A team-up with Steph Curry on the Golden State Warriors remains a possibility, albeit one that is still more of a longshot.

A source told NBC Sports Bay Area on Wednesday that "I know it seems crazy, but there is at least curiosity on both sides.

"This wouldn't even be a conversation five or six years ago, and it might not happen now, but there's enough there that we shouldn't ignore the possibility. It's mostly up to LeBron."

James is set to become a free agent at the end of June. He just finished up his 23rd season in the NBA, one in which he tried to help the Lakers overcome injuries to key players such as Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

Curry and James became pivotal figures in four consecutive NBA Finals (2014-18) as they showed off their rivalry. Curry and the Warriors won three of these matchups, but James and the Cavaliers captured the title in 2015-16.

Rivals at the time, the two veterans later became teammates in a different way. They both joined Team USA in 2024 and won a gold medal after defeating Serbia and France.

Now, a possibility remains that they will reunite on the Golden State Warriors. Although making this happen would require James taking a significant pay cut. According to NBC Sports Bay Area, this would be a difference of more than $30 million. Although money is likely less of a deciding factor for James.

The report on Wednesday is not the first time that these two sides have been linked. Back in early March, a report indicated that Curry and Draymond Green would "heavily pursue James" when he became a free agent for the first time since 2018.
